About Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)

About The Exam

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an engineering entrance assessment conducted for admission to various engineering colleges in India. It is constituted by two different examinations: the JEE Main and the JEE Advanced.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts the joint admission process for a total of 24 Indian Institute of Technology campuses, 32 National Institute of Technology campuses, 18 Indian Institute of Information Technology campuses and 19 other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) based on the rank obtained by a student in JEE Mains and JEE Advanced.

JEE Main

JEE Main is a computer-based online test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate courses in NITs, IIITs and other top engineering institutes in India.

Students are granted admission to IIITs, CFITs, NITs, and other Government funded technical institutes based on the marks obtained in JEE Main. Also, the top 2,50,000 students from JEE Main will qualify to appear for JEE Advanced.

In 2021 JEE Main examination will be conducted in four sessions and candidates can take the exam either in the month of February, March, April or in May. The better of four NTA scores will be considered by the exam conducting authority in preparing the ranks/merit list.

Approximately 6 to 10 Lakh students appear for JEE Main exam every year out of which nearly 2.5 Lakh students are considered qualified for appearing in JEE Advanced. For more details click LEARN MORE

JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced (Formerly known as IIT JEE) is the second phase of the JEE examination and is usually conducted after the JEE Main exam.

A candidate has to qualify JEE Advanced to take admissions in premier institutes such as IITs, IIPE, IISERs.

It is a computer-based exam and is usually conducted by seven different Indian IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) on a rotational basis under the guidance of Joint Admission Board (JAB).

Approximately 15 thousand students from 2.5 Lakh make it reserve a seat in an IIT which is nearly 1.5% of total students appeared for JEE. For more details, please click LEARN MORE
